Pregnancy Tests
The most common sign of pregnancy is a missed period. However, there may be many reasons why a woman's cycle is off schedule. For example, stress or exercising harder than usual can cause an irregular period. Before jumping to conclusions after a missed period, visit Clarity Clinic for a lab-quality pregnancy test and get accurate information from our medical staff. Limited Obstetrical Ultrasounds
After a positive pregnancy test, a limited obstetrical ultrasound is used to determine the viability and gestational age of your pregnancy. It is also used to confirm that the pregnancy is in the uterus and not ectopic.
If you are considering an abortion, either chemical or surgical, having an ultrasound first is very important. An ultrasound will determine if you are within the window for a medication abortion. The abortion pill may not be effective at a 10-week or more gestational age, and it could be harmful. Also, if your pregnancy is ectopic, it is not viable. The pregnancy must be terminated properly to avoid a situation detrimental to your health. An ultrasound can determine all this.
NOTE: A limited obstetrical (OB) ultrasound checks for the placement and heartbeat of the fetus, measures the gestational sac and fetus, and gives an estimated due date. It does not check for gender or fetal abnormalities. Each client should find a primary care physician for full obstetric care during her pregnancy.
