If a woman changes her mind about continuing her pregnancy, she deserves a second chance. No one should feel pressured to continue an abortion she does not want.
How Does it Work?
The first pill in the abortion pill regimen (mifepristone) blocks progesterone. Without progesterone, the pregnancy cannot continue, and the fetus stops growing. The second pill (misoprostol), taken 24-48 hours after the first, causes cramping and bleeding to empty the uterus.
The abortion pill reversal process uses supplemental progesterone to counteract mifepristone. Ideally, a woman needs to start this protocol within 24 hours of taking mifepristone to increase her chance of a successful reversal. However, according to the Abortion Pill Rescue Network, there also have been successful reversals when treatment began within 72 hours of taking the first pill.
